Its finally time. Registration for the next round of Pentito is officially open!
The new round will begin on Wednesday, August 12 at 20:00 Pentito/NL time.
As always, a new round brings more than just a fresh start. Over the past weeks we've been working on a number of changes designed to improve the overall experience, make certain systems more meaningful and add some new strategic considerations to the game.
Here's what's changing:
- A Completely Redesigned User Interface
One of the biggest changes this round is our completely redesigned user interface. The new interface has been built around the way Pentito is actually played today. Mobile gameplay should feel significantly more natural, while desktop players will benefit from a clearer and more organised overview. This is a major step forward for Pentito and something we'll continue improving based on your feedback.
- Heat Is More Important Than Ever
Heat will play a much bigger role this round. Committing murders will now automatically increase your Heat, with the amount depending partly on the time of day. The more people there are out on the streets, the greater the chance that your actions attract unwanted attention, and the more Heat you'll receive. Choosing when to strike has therefore become more important.
- Witness Statements Have Been Reworked
The Witness Statement system has received several major changes. During the day, when more people are out on the streets, there can potentially be more witnesses to a shooting. At night there may be fewer people outside, but that doesn't mean you're completely safe. Someone may still be woken up by the sound of gunfire and receive a Witness Statement. You can now also receive a Witness Statement following a failed hit attempt.
What Can You Do With a Witness Statement? Witness Statements are now much more valuable. As a witness, you have 6 hours to decide what to do with the statement.
You can:
- Sell it to a corrupt police officer in exchange for money. Doing so immediately removes the shooter's Heat.
- Hand it over to the FBI, increasing the shooter's Heat in the city where the incident took place. Whether you help the shooter disappear or make life considerably more difficult for them is entirely up to you.
- Health Limits Become Stricter After Repeated Abuse
Health limits have also been adjusted. If you exceed your Health limits multiple times, your limits will become stricter for the following 7 days. This means repeatedly pushing beyond the intended limits will now have longer-lasting consequences.
- Kill Statistics Are Delayed
All public kill-related statistics will now be displayed with a 6-hour delay. This provides players with a little more anonymity when planning and carrying out their actions and makes it harder to immediately reconstruct exactly what happened based on public statistics.
- Turf War Defender Cooldowns
We've adjusted the defender logic during Turf Wars. The cooldown system that already applies to attackers has now also been implemented for defenders. This should make Turf Wars fairer and prevent the defending side from having an unintended advantage through repeated participation.
- Invite Players Across Cities
Inviting another player to activities such as races and heists is now possible even when that player is currently in another city. You will no longer receive the notification telling you that the player needs to be in the same city before they can be invited.
- Introducing the Sleeping Status
The night is becoming more important in Pentito. Between 00:00 and 06:00 Pentito time, players can now enter a new Sleeping status. If you are inactive for at least 15 minutes during this period, your status will automatically change to Sleeping. Sleeping comes with both advantages and disadvantages.
While Sleeping, you benefit more from the protection offered by your accommodation. If another player attempts a hit on you while you are asleep, you will take less damage thanks to this additional protection. However, accommodation matters. If you don't own any accommodation, you're effectively sleeping on the streets and won't receive this additional Sleeping protection.
There is a trade-off. While you're safely asleep at home, you can't exactly be outside defending your territory. Your spots will therefore be more vulnerable while you are Sleeping. Players will need to decide whether the additional personal protection is worth the increased risk to their territory.
Your ability to return fire is also reduced while Sleeping. If you suddenly wake up to the sound of gunfire, you won't be able to immediately respond at full strength. Once again, timing your attacks can make a real difference.
We're looking forward to starting another round together and seeing how these changes affect the streets of Pentito. Registration is open now, so make sure your account is ready before the round begins.
