Pentito Feature

Races

Races in Pentito are city-based competitions for 2 to 4 players where every racer has to bring a real car. They can be public or invite-only, and the outcome depends on far more than just owning the fastest vehicle on paper.

Street races and vehicle competition in Pentito

Key strengths of Races

  • Supports both public lobbies and private invite races
  • Every participant must lock in a car from the current city
  • Race scores use speed, car damage, carry weight and driving experience
  • Finishes award driving experience but also cause real car wear

Races are built as real lobbies, not a simple queue

A race in Pentito starts as an actual lobby. You can open it to the public or keep it private and invite specific people, but either way everyone has to be in the same city and no one can already be tied up in another active race or pending invite.

That gives races a grounded feel inside the world map. They are not detached minigames, but short competitive events that grow naturally out of where players are and who is around them.

The car you choose matters, but so does the condition you bring it in

Players have to select a real car from their garage or accommodation in the current city before the race can begin. Public races also clean themselves up if people join and then fail to pick a car in time, which keeps the system moving instead of leaving stale lobbies behind.

When the race is scored, Pentito looks at top speed, current car damage, carry weight, car value and driving experience. That means a badly damaged car or overloaded racer can absolutely lose to a cleaner, better-prepared setup.

City and time of day change how a race feels

Pentito adjusts races with city and day-phase tuning. Some cities feel faster and cleaner, while others add more variance or more damage on the way out. Night races do not behave exactly like afternoon races, and Los Angeles does not race like New York or Boston.

That gives the feature more personality than a fixed arcade loop. Winning brings driving experience and mission progress in Los Angeles, but every finish also risks new damage to the car, with losers usually taking the heavier punishment.
