Key strengths of Coma, Recovery & Death
- Coma lasts 12 hours and blocks normal gameplay actions
- Recovery lasts 24 hours and penalties ease every 15 minutes
- Hospital healing during recovery is capped well below full health
- Protection starts from coma onset, but death still returns after it ends
Coma in Pentito is a timed state, not a vague setback
When a hit in Pentito is serious enough to put you down, the game can place you in a full coma state for 12 hours. During that period you cannot keep playing normally, and the recovery ward page becomes the center of your status, timers and recent alerts.
Coma is not total isolation, though. Pentito still lets you read and send inbox messages while you are unconscious, which means family coordination and revenge planning can continue even while your character is off the street.
Recovery is playable, but it is not a free reset
After coma ends, Pentito moves the player into a 24-hour recovery phase. That state comes with a penalty severity that fades in 15-minute relief ticks, reducing success rates, increasing cooldowns and making incoming damage harsher until you are fully stable again.
Recovery also changes healing rules. In the hospital, recovery players cannot simply buy their way back to 100% health, because normal treatment is capped at 20% health while the state is active. You are awake again, but still visibly vulnerable.
Protection exists, but it is controlled and limited
From the moment coma starts, Pentito applies 72 hours of temporary kill protection. That stops endless chain-hits and gives the victim a real chance to come back instead of being deleted by repeated clicks before the first hit even matters.
That protection is not the same as permanent safety. Players can opt out of the protection layer through settings, and the game also tracks how many coma escapes you are allowed inside a 168-hour window. Lower ranks get more margin, while higher ranks eventually have fewer second chances.
Death still matters because recovery does not remove risk
Pentito does not use coma to make the underworld harmless. Once the protection cycle is over, death becomes possible again, and some dangerous activities already warn that recovery mode does not save you from fatal outcomes if you keep taking big risks too early.
The vulnerable period also has side effects beyond health. Hospitalized players can show up in inpatient lists, friends in the same city help reduce bedside and accommodation robbery risk, and coma alerts keep a record of what happened while you were down. That makes recovery feel like an exposed state in the living world, not a pause screen.
Coma, Recovery & Death Frequently Asked Questions
No. A serious hit can put a player into a 12-hour coma first, followed by a 24-hour recovery phase. Permanent death is possible in Pentito, but it is not the only post-hit outcome.
A player in coma is removed from normal gameplay actions, shown on the recovery ward timers and kept off the street, but can still use the inbox to coordinate with allies while waiting for the coma to end.
Recovery is the 24-hour period after coma where penalties gradually fade every 15 minutes. During that time success chances are lower, cooldowns run longer, incoming damage is harsher and hospital healing is capped below full health.
Pentito tracks coma outcomes inside a 168-hour window. Early ranks get more allowed comas than higher ranks, so the safety margin shrinks as players climb and the underworld gets harsher.
