Market

The Underground Market is where you gear up before someone else cashes in on your mistakes. Uncle Louie runs the place, no receipts, no customer service, just metal, kevlar and prices that hurt slightly less than getting shot. The top of the page reminds you how much cash you actually brought and which aisle you are in: vests, handguns or machine guns. Each tab shows a line of gear cards with an image, a short description and the hard numbers that matter: protection, damage, accuracy, weight or whatever stats belong to that item type.

If you already own a piece of that gear in this city, the card stops being a catalog and turns into maintenance. Equipped items and stored copies in your current city show up with their condition and can be repaired straight from the dropdown. Repair prices scale with how beat up the item is, so a scratched vest is cheap to fix and a ruined one feels like buying it twice. If you are done with a piece, you can sell your equipped copy back to Louie for a cut of the original price, based on its remaining condition. New gear is paid straight from the cash in your pocket; money in the bank does not impress him here. At the top of the screen, yellow warnings tell you when purchase or repair cooldowns are running. All purchases share one timer, all repairs share another, and while a cooldown is active those buttons turn into clocks instead of deals.

FAQ

Why can’t I buy a new vest, handgun or machine gun here?
Uncle Louie only sells you one of each gear slot through this screen. If you already own a vest, handgun or machine gun, the market focuses on repairing and selling what you have instead of offering new stock. To see a buy button again for that slot, you need to get rid of your existing piece first.

Why is some gear shown in color and other cards look greyed out?
A colored image means you own at least one copy of that item in this city, equipped or in storage. A greyed-out card means you do not own that model here yet; it is still pure window shopping.

How is repair cost calculated for damaged gear?
Repair cost is proportional to how much condition is missing, based on the original buy price. Fixing an item from 60% back to 100% condition costs roughly 40% of the base price. Light repairs are cheap, dragging something back from the grave feels like paying for it all over again.

Can I repair items that are stored in another city?
No. The repair dropdown only lists equipped gear and stored copies in your current city. If you left a gun or vest in another town, you need to travel there or move it back before you can fix it in this market.

Why is the buy or repair button showing a cooldown instead of a normal label?
When you see a cooldown label on the button, it means the global timer for that action is still running. All purchases share one purchase cooldown; all repairs share one repair cooldown. While the timer counts down, the button is disabled and shows the remaining time. When it flips back to the normal text, the action is available again.

Why is the buy button disabled even though there is no cooldown?
There are two common reasons: either you do not have enough cash on hand for the price shown, or you already own gear in that slot and the market will not sell you another piece of that type. In both cases, the button stays disabled until you bring more cash or sell what you already have.

What happens when I sell an equipped item back to the market?
Selling an equipped item removes that copy from your inventory and pays you a percentage of the original buy price, based on its current condition. Higher condition means more cash back. Once sold, that specific piece is gone for good and you will need to buy or loot another one if you change your mind.
